Hey guys, Here is an update from the council on tree removal at Mt Vic. "Our tree team has made a start this week on removing or dropping and leaving storm damaged trees. The works have started on the Lookout Walkway which is the track below Hippy’s. They are making their way down the hill from there. There are trees coming down along the Southern Walkway which is where the drop in points for Damien’s, Rock drop and Virginia are. These trees will be left on site but the boys will endeavour to not leave in the way of these tracks. When this is done we will be coming back to the top and removing the tree fall close to Rangers Return with a crane. We will be removing a number of other trees and hangers in the area that are still standing but not looking like staying around for long. The start of crane works on Hippy’s will be approx two weeks away. Mt Alfred - One large pine is down on the easy track that goes around this area and this has ripped the track up. We will be leaving the tree there and I will be looking at track remedial work to by pass this. The new Super D line from the Ridgeline is all ok. In the area closer to Rod’s Drop there are a number of pines down and a few hangers. One small piece of track has been ripped up but it is still passable. We will be removing a number of trees in this area but not for some time. There is the possibility of using some of this timber as riding features." Thanks to Dave Halliday, Steve.
