Hey guys. Many of you have heard about the Noah movie that came out lately. I watched it and thought it was a good MOVIE, even though it took a lot of liberties with the source materials. As I described it, it was a movie inspired by a Bible story, but not in itself an actual Bible story. One of the things I noticed was how they decided to show the wickedness of man that prompted God to wipe mankind out as being that they destroyed the Earth. Ruined it essentially. Destroyed the environment. I didnt rail against it because I knew the director was an Atheist and Envirogedon is the new politically correct religion today. Marrying the two didnt seem odd to me, but many did protest against it. I read numerous articles attacking anybody who protested it, calling Christians stupid for not understanding the Bible when it said that Man ruined the Earth. Saying that the movie Noah got it right. Well, I was reading Genesis today and hit 6:5 where it says that the wickedness of man became so bad that God repented of creating him altogether. I checked every translation I could, and though the words are different they mean the same thing. Man was wicked. Not man destroyed the environment. I read the whole chapter, up to where it described how long the waters were on the Earth during the Flood, and I never saw anything that looked like man destroyed the environment. Note that Im not against showing the wickedness of man as ruining the environment. Considering God created the Earth, it WOULD be wicked to destroy it. Its just a different take than what weve seen in previous renditions of the story. The source material is rather brief after all and can be taken in many ways. You kinda have to work to get a Noah story wrong considering how brief it is. Not saying they didnt manage it, but you have to work at it. ;) So...my question is this. Is there any point anywhere in the Bible that any of you know about where it says that the Flood happened because man ruined the Earth versus the man was wicked explaination in Genesis 6:5?
