Hey guys, just wanted to start using this group again so that we can touch base with everyone. - Firstly, please add everyone too this group that comes to sessions. - Secondly, if someone would like to nominate themselves to organise some social activities for the group outside of volleyball that would be great. Volunteers that do not already play a large role in the club would be awesome! A big BBQ or something would be great! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now for a bit of house keeping: - I would ask that everyone be there on time. It is unfair on those organising the sessions to have 20 people at the start and then suddenly 60 people. If you would like to be involved in the session, please attend on time. If you cant make it on time (for example, I will be returning to work on Tuesdays soon which goes until 6pm) please let someone know ahead of time. There will be physical punishments for those who are late from now on (eg. running laps....lots of laps). - Everyone will participate in the group warm up (I know I am probably guilty of not always doing this). Warm up is important for injury prevention, and besides summer is coming and we all want a nice beach bod. There will be no exceptions. - From now on, every peppering session, you will be asked to pepper with two different people. One person can be someone you already know (potentially at your skill level). The other person you will have to introduce yourself to - more skilled players may then assist newcomers in developing their skills. And you will get to meet new people! - The people running the sessions (eg. taking warm up, etc) are predominantly volunteers - the money goes to court hire, insurance, equipment purchase, and to supporting club activities. As such, please treat them with the respect they deserve. - Finally, there has never been an intention for people to feel excluded by dividing the group up into skill levels, and I apologise if people have felt this way. The intention is that people will be able to work on drills that are appropriate to their skill level. For example, the intention for the group that I normally take is that it will act as a pathway for social participants to improve their skills to a level so that they may one day play in the state league divisions for the club (and might do so by playing with people who are already state league players). If you feel like that is a somewhere where you would like to take your volleyball, you are most welcome to join in. Obviously there cannot be 60 people on the same court, however, so please make you own judgement of whether or not you are up to the skill level. Please also be aware that it is very difficult to make 40+ people happy at the same time! But by all means, we want everyone to feel happy and welcome! Also, we will endeavour to mix things up a bit more and maybe play some round robin games once in a while, where you are not broken up into the skill groups (however that is largely the intention of the Sunday Tin Alley Social league, so if you would like to do more of that, then join that competition too!) Private message me if you have and suggestions, issues or would like to get involved in the next Tin Alley Social Volleyball Competition! Looking forward to seeing you all next week for another great session :) Sorry for the essay!
