Hey guys, sorry for the delay. Welcome to our 7th article of our teams series. Tonights sides are Port Adelaide and Richmond. Make sure to drop a like or a comment to let us know your thoughts. PORT ADELAIDE: Best Bargain: Jake Neade (FWD) $281,200 Not many bargains on the Port Adelaide list in 2015, but Neade does spring up as a candidate. Only played 5 games last year after a solid debut season in 2013, and will be looking to cement himself in Port’s best 22 this season. Had some solid scores of 99 and 73 in 2014 whilst having an absolute stellar finals series, where he notched up some great points in SuperCoach finals. If he can increase his numbers and gametime, could be a good POD forward. Best Premium: Travis Boak (MID) $568,200 Had a terrific 2014 and will be looking to improve his SuperCoach output in 2015 with Port now pushing higher up the ladder. Posted some absolute monster scores last year, including scores of 157, 156, 132, 153 and 162. Shows he has a large scoring ceiling but questions arise over whether he can cop a tag. Stay Away: Matthew Lobbe (RUC) $541,300 Many started with Lobbe last year and he had quite a solid year albeit not spectacular. Posted some huge scores (including a 178 and a 150) whilst also posting a few scores below 75. Although these are solid, the arrival of Paddy Ryder poses a few issues. Mainly, Lobbe may spend less time in the ruck than normal as he now has a genuine number one ruckman to compete with, something that he has never really faced before at Port Adelaide. Because of this, we predict Lobbe’s average to experience a slight drop. Consequently, with Todd Goldstein at 574k and even the likes of Kreuzer and Leuenberger available under 400k, there’s far more value in the rucks than Lobbe presents. Look elsewhere. Watchlist: Nathan Krakouer (MID/FWD) $106,900 After pre-maturely retiring during his stint with the Suns, Krakouer find himself back at Port Adelaide with a second chance. Has never averaged above 70 SuperCoach points in his career, but with a second chance at it, may find himself pushing his scores higher if he plays. Remember he is a rookie; so don’t put him on the pine as bench cover right at this stage. Watch carefully in the NAB Challenge though and whether an injury on Port’s senior list creates an opportunity. Paddy Ryder (RUC/FWD) $543,400 Possibly the most controversial move of the off-season other than Beams, Paddy Ryder has ended up at Alberton. Solidified his status as one of the league’s best swing ruckman/key-forward in 2014, playing 20 games whilst averaging 101.1 SuperCoach points. Remember though, Paddy achieved this for much of the season playing as Essendon’s number one ruckman. Will rotate with Lobbe at Port, meaning his scores may suffer, but nonetheless could also flourish. Watch carefully. Tom Jonas (DEF) $354,500 Jonas is mainly on this list as he had a terrific back-end of the 2014 season. Emerged as a genuine SuperCoach defender after some solid scores in the last couple of rounds of 2014 with consecutive scores of 81, 100 and 99 and having a very good elimination final. Very risky, but relatively cheap and could make a difference in defence where there is a lot of value in 2015. Big POD. RICHMOND: Best Bargain: Chris Knights (FWD) $227,700 Has been plagued by injuries since making his way to the Tigers, Knights presents’ great value if he can get fit. Has shown what he is capable of in previous seasons, just needs to get fit and stay on the park for an elongated period of time. Only 227k, meaning if he can cement himself back in Richmond’s Best 22, can potentially gain some cash whilst chipping in with some solid points. Watch very carefully, but be wary also, as he is still on the comeback trail. Could be a good mid-season buy if in need of a downgrade. Best Premium: Trent Cotchin (MID) $546,500 Whilst being inconsistent at times, Cotchin is without a doubt Richmond’s best premium. Only averaged 101.68 last year but has a huge scoring ceiling. His 2014 included scores of 134, 133, 130, and a huge 168. Despite this, still goes missing during games, which is reflected through his low average and many scores that sit around the high 80’s and low 90’s. Many of you will be asking why Dustin Martin or Brett Deledio didn’t take the spot as Richmond’s best premium. Simply, they were all very inconsistent last year and Cotch stood out with some bigger totals. Stay Away: Jack Riewoldt (FWD) $450,800 Jack is one of those players where when he has a big game, he goes 130+, but when he has a bad game he struggles to hit 50 points. Had some great games last year including a monster 11 goal, 189 SuperCoach points game v. GWS, but he is simply too inconsistent to consider. This is a rule of thumb we take with ALL key forwards. Our advice, build your forward lines with players that get a lot of midfield time so your SuperCoach forwards effectively act as a second midfield. Watchlist: Kane Lambert (MID/FWD) $102,400 After being drafted from Williamstown in the VFL, Lambert presents some solid value. A mature aged recruit, Lambert has been likened to Anthony Miles and Anthony Stevens. Has great ball winning ability and goal-smarts, possesses the skills that make up a SuperCoach’s dream. Remember he is a rookie, so monitor over NAB Challenge and if a spot opens up for him to play some regular senior footy, jump on. Ben Lennon (FWD) $180,400 Played 7 games in 2014 whilst averaging 33.57, but be wary many of his games were sub-affected. When he got on the park he notched up some good points in a limited amount of time, thus providing an insight to what his SuperCoach potential could be for full games. Should get plenty of opportunity in 2015 and is cheap enough to take a punt on if his pre-season stands out. POD material. Liam McBean (FWD) $123,900 Recently re-signed to the end of 2016, the Tigers clearly rate McBean. Been on Tiger’s list for 2 years and yet to make his debut, is very cheap and could chip in with some solid SuperCoach points if he debuts. Watch in pre-season, but mainly monitor for your benches. Could present great value.
