Hey peeps, Our neighbours in Shiga-ken organise a fantastic bike ride around Lake Biwa (Japans biggest lake) every year. This year its on the first weekend in October (4th and 5th). 一緒に行きましょうか？ Here is the blurb: Let’s talk about bikes, baby. It’s time to start thinking about Shiga’s Annual Biwako Bike Trip! For those of you who don’t know what that is…let’s start at the beginning: Biwako is Japan’s biggest lake and it takes over most of Shiga Prefecture. Every year Shiga AJET has hosted a two-day bike tour around the lake. Gorgeous views, great camaraderie, and of course, physical activity are mainstays of this trip. For the first time this year we were opening this event up to Block 6, but Shiga JETs get first pick! After that, it’s first come, first serve. Here are the details, and I hope to see you there! What: We travel about 8 hours the first day, stay at a pension overnight (at which point we will also sink our sore bodies in an onsen), and then bike back to our starting location. Where: Most likely to start on the North-East side of Shiga and pause overnight on the West side. When: October 4-5th Who: 30ish Fantastic JETS who want an amazing experience. (We can get a certain number of bikes/pension spots, but depending on if people bring their own bike/want a sports bike, the final number will vary. At the moment 30 is our number, and we are likely to add another 10 spaces.) Price: TBD, but it will likely be between 6000-8000 yen. This includes bike rental and pension only. Deadlines: Shiga Jets – From now until next Sunday the 31st you can sign-up without any competition, afterwards it is open up to whoever. Block 6 – From September 1st until September 7th anyone can sign up Money is due through furikomi to Shiga AJET OR through direct contact with a Shiga AJET member by Friday, September 12th. You may back out of the event up through September 7th, however after that you are required to pay. We will get the definitive price to you before the sign-up deadline. (Furikomi instructions to be posted later).
