Hey, yall. Lets talk about Grits for a moment. I love Grits. All kinds. I know that G-R-I-T-S stands for Girls Raised In the South, too. But today Im talking about food Grits. Yeah, buddy. But I have found over time that the difference between making Instant Oatmeal in the microwave and real, Slow Cooked Whole Grain Oatmeal on the stove is so vast as to almost make them two different foods. I only make my Oatmeal on the stove now for a long time. The Instant Grits I have been making are soupy, mushy and soft. I am thinking that, like the Oatmeal, the old-fashioned slow cooked Grits are likely to be a lot better. I am looking for something with more substance, and texture. More . . . grit. So I was wondering if any fellow Grits Lovers could recommend the best brand or product to look for. Do the Quaker Quick Grits give a good result? I see more expensive varieties available but the Quaker Grits are budget friendly and easily available in the store if worthwhile. Surprisingly in my area of Missouri there is not a wide selection of Grits available in the stores. Sincerely appreciate your suggestions. I do not follow the package instructions precisely for my Oatmeal, doing it a bit different for a better result, so welcome any tips in preparing the Grits as well. Thanks! ;)
