Hi Admin! I certainly do hope this get’s posted. Please please please…. Thank you Convergys has recently rolled out a new pay scheme called “EVERY-OTHER-FRIDAY PAY”. For those who were with Stream Global Services (formerly Etelecare), this has been the same pay scheme even before the acquisition of Stream by Convergys. For those who are from Stream and now are Convergys Employees, I’m sure you can very well tell the difference. Just today, pamphlets were distributed, posters containing the information visible in the lobby and new online courses requiring each CVG employee to take regarding the matter. They made sure everyone is aware. Even before all these came out, we have been hearing about such pay scheme, and you won’t be surprised how others reacted, but it was not until today that it was officially made known. I was kind of reluctant as to how I would react. A paragraph caught my attention. It specifically went this way: MORE REASONS TO SMILE EVERY OTHER FRIDAY!- With an accurate timecard and with the new payroll process in place, you get to enjoy the following: 1.) Accurate Pay (based on fixed 10-day working days / 80 hours worked per pay period) 2.) Easy tracking on allowances and pay differentials ( Rest Days, Night Differential, Holiday, Overtime, Deductions for Unpaid Leave or Tardiness) which reflect on the same pay period 3.) Shorter waiting time to receive your pay differentials and allowances 4.) More frequent payouts and shorter intervals between payouts (26 payouts in a year) 5.) For ATM withdrawals outside of the office, enjoy greater convenience on uncommon paydays. I have been with Stream for about two years and with Convergys for about the same time now. I can greatly compare the difference in payouts which made me somewhat satisfied with my decision transferring from one company to the other. With Convergys, we were kept informed that EMPLOYEE OPINIONS WOULD MATTER. Surveys were rolled out annually, quarterly and monthly depending on the activities conducted. But with this, they surely failed to do so. They didn’t make any survey to gather inputs, ideas and opinions from the employeesLet just make a short argument about this. First and foremost, we were NEVER asked if we wanted this or even if we can’t do anything about it, at the very least the company would meet halfway with its employees. Second, with their “reasons to smile every Friday” statement, they have grilled themselves into their own fire. Let me put it in detail: REASONS NOT TO LIKE CONVERGYS’ NEW PAY SCHEME 1.) The information disseminated contained the WHAT and the WHO but NEVER THE WHY. No explanation was given as to what was the main reason for this change and why is it necessary. Is the current pay scheme which has been going on since the company started flawed? If it is not then why change? (“Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke”). If it is then why just notice now? It took you almost 10 years to notice? Are you really that misguided? 2.) The first reason indicated as to why we should “SMILE” every other Friday is “ACCURATE PAY”. Well I’ll be damned! So I have not been receiving an accurate pay since I got employed? Seriously?! You had to make this your number one reason?! Therefore, the company has admitted that the pay they are giving their employees is and was NEVER accurate. 3.) Another reason is “Easy tracking of allowances and pay differentials”. If the new scheme provides “EASY TRACKING” what do you call your tracking now? Less easy? Difficult? Then why the hell stick to this method for almost 10 years now?! 4.) Fourth reason to “SMILE” as indicated is “Shorter time to receive your pay differentials and allowances. We have been used to this method and I don’t think someone has complained about it. Yes we experience TING BITS but that’s not your problem, it’s the employees, on how they budget their earnings. There was never a “Longer” time to receive allowances. It’s just how it is. It comes with one of the pays. It’s how you designed such scheme when the company first started. 5.) “More frequent payouts” does the 2 pays really matter? I mean after calculating each pay (every 10 days) it would always be lesser than what we used to receive. Questions would rise such as, “hey, my basic pay lessened, where did the rest go?” but this 2 extra pays is where the rest of our missing pay goes. It was never missing; they just wanted to give out lesser pays each payday. For what reason? IDFK! 6.) “Enjoy greater convenience on uncommon paydays”. What the hell do you care if we have to fall in a freaking long line?! I appreciate your concern but that’s something you’re not obliged to address. It’s not your problem when we have to wait for minutes, that’s ours to deal with, it doesn’t matter as long as when it’s our turn to withdraw, we are satisfied with what pay we have after such hard work and sleepless nights. To all those employees who have been with the company 5 years or more, do you think the change in pay scheme is necessary? What’s wrong with what we have right now? This has been one of the effects of acquiring Stream Global services. First our Christmas party was a “FUSION” one party for all sites plus one budget equals lesser expenditure for the company. The food was great! But the place wasn’t! Imagine eating barely seeing your food, we had to use our mobile phones just to shed some light on our plates. Last year I2 celebrated their year-end party at Water front, with famous guests, Louis and Iya. We also had give-a ways, now? The not so famous Jimmy Marquez and DJ Clyde Harris, no one even knew who they were until then, I mean at least I didn’t know them; and guess what NO GIVE-A WAYS! Is this the meaning of a SMOOTH transition after stream’s acquisition? It cannot be denied that the once number one BPO company and ICT hall of Famer CONVERGYS, has now slowly slipped and may have slowly lost its grip. There are now companies big enough to provide better offer, pay and benefits wise. What will become of CVG if they continue to let go of tenure agents and managers they once cared for and helped built its career and mold their corporate personalities and work ethics? Will Convergys become a stepping stone for new hires to help them prepare for another company who are more employee oriented and could give themselves assurance that they will have a better value after leaving CVG? What then would happen to the quality of service if the company keeps on letting go of essential employees in exchange for new and fresh ones? Only the company and the people behind it can answer such questions. How misguided has CVG become? I wish our site directors can see this post. To all those CVG employees who agree with all of this and thinks this makes sense, please spread, repost on whatever FB groups you have per site, per team or per LOB. I’m pretty sure this change in our pay scheme would be a reason for high attrition, let’s wait and see after the leave conversion by February comes. If you think this is non-sense, I apologize! But I’m entitled to my opinion.
