Changes to 457 Visas - Labour Market Testing On 23 November 2013 the Department of Immigration and Border Protection will implement the ‘labour market testing’ requirement in relation to Business Nominations for subclass 457 visa applications. Some occupations will be exempt from the requirement, however, the list of exempt occupations has not yet been released. At this stage, it is apparent that trades occupations, engineers and nurses will not be exempt from the labour market testing requirements. As such, if you are considering applying for a 457 visa, particularly in any of those occupations, please contact us on 03 9044 9265 or [email protected] immediately to discuss lodging your application before the changes take effect.
