Hi All. I have a question about AVID sound workflow. I am going to be cutting a drama later this year where the plan is to mic up as many of the actors as possible, resulting in multiple audio tracks, which will comprise a mixdown from the location recordist and separate tracks for each mic. In an ideal world the mixdown would always serve for the cutting copy (there will be a separate sound mix in post where the dialogue editors can refer back to the sync recordings) but I am anticipating that there will be plenty of situations where we will want to use the separately mic’d tracks in the assembly. What is the best way to preserve the best parts of the recording in the edit but avoid cutting with multiple audio tracks (I am happy with a few)? And is there a way to utilize metadata provided by the location recordist to ensure that the tracks in the AVID are separately labeled? Thanks for your thoughts.
