Hi All! I’m Heather Webb and I write historicals with women’s fiction themes. I’m so excited to be here today, celebrating a novel I adored—Stephanie Dray’s DAUGHTERS OF THE NILE! My first novel, BECOMING JOSEPHINE, released earlier this month. Though the story did not take place during ancient times, Josephine Bonaparte had connections to both the Italian states and Egypt through her soldier husband Napoleon. Luckily, she had nothing to do with the ravaging of peoples and the pillaging (other than requesting plant samples for her gardens), but she was known for bringing classical clothing styles back into fashion. The filmy white muslin draped just so with empire waists, golden diadems styled after the Romans, and then there was the ever-popular shawl à la égyptienne. Ladies waved their chicken-skin fans painted with pyramids and the like, and their fashion icon—Josephine—led these trends. What is your favorite fashion revival from the ancient world? Leave a comment, like, or share this post for a chance to win either a signed copy of Becoming Josephine. Sharing the post puts your name in the pot three times.
