Hi All, Please check out our new page. We want to get American Football played in the University games by 2016, Regional Games by 2015 and a Regional Tournament in 2014. Nothing like having a target to aim for The inclusion of any new sport into the Australian University Games program follows allocation & review of sport status guideline which is found on this website. unisport.au/InsideAUS/OrganisationalPolicies/Pages/EventParticipationGuidelinesPolicies.aspx Basically The sport needs to have a club structure across all four regions as well as have support from the national sporting body. Touch and tag is already played in the Eastern University Games with potential expansion of this sport into the northern university games soon. Sports need to be played at all regional levels before being included in the national event program. In Western Australia TSWA has Touch in their program and our first steps will be to get it instigated in that program. We want to build a network within many universities across the country. We need individuals to share with friends and help Flag Clubs form and potential competitions grow in universities. Having everyone linking on this page is a good start. We have had preliminary talks with Tertiary Sports WA and Aus Uni Games and the only thing stopping this happen is forms an 8 man squad to compete. We start with a mini tournament, progress to regional inclusion of the sport, then it becomes part of the National program. If Frisbee can do it why not us? If you can help, we want to hear from you. Lots of Clubs are already there in the right space Curtin Saints, UTS Gridiron, Monash Warriors, Northern Raiders, Melbourne Royals, Western Crusaders, etc, others can mentor a Uni Flag Club..you get the idea
