Hi All, The Walk to Fight Familial Ataxias has been a great - TopicsExpress

Hi All, The Walk to Fight Familial Ataxias has been a great success. We have been able to raise over $95 000, over the last 5 years, with all 4 provinces working together. I wish to thank you for continuing to support us by coming to our walk in Whitby. A breakthrough in the research is just around the corner, so stay positive and keep motivated. Just so you know there are some changes coming for future walks, and I think you may all agree that they need to happen. As you all can imagine, predicting how hungry a crowd of people may be can be quite difficult. It can lead to either having too much food, or too little. Too much has a negative economical affect on our revenue, and having too little has a personal impact where some get nothing. I hate the personal impact the most, so I have an idea that will address this issue. 1. When someone picks up their t-shirt, they will also be presented with a food ticket which will allow the presenter of the ticket one controlled portion of food. We will have volunteers ensuring that everyone gets some lunch before 2nd’s are allowed. I feel that this is the only way to stop the free-for-all when it comes to the food. 2. I will also be redesigning the website with the following things in mind. a. Group/Team registration b. Twitter and Facebook integration c. New images 3. It has also been requested that we return to our previous name The Walk to Fight Friedreich’s Ataxia. I will speak with the other provinces about this change. I don’t see too much of a problem. Feel free to leave your comments and suggestions. Jason
