Hi All our Baja friends! First of all, we apologize for our delay - TopicsExpress

Hi All our Baja friends! First of all, we apologize for our delay in getting back to some of your emails and messages, however, things got pretty sketchy for a while here in Cabo with the Odile Hurricane that swept in. This is probably the hurricane that has brought the biggest amount of destruction and devastation to Cabo and san Jose del Cabo in history. As you drive along Highway 1, the destruction that it caused took your breath away. The car dealerships…brought to a pile of dirt on top of new, shiny cars were lined up like ducks in a row. The new airport Terminal 2 was… just no longer there, and several of the big hotels in san Jose like the Hyatt, The Mayan, the Royal Solaris, to name but a few, suffered major damage. There was no electricity or water for the majority of Los Cabos for almost 10 days and the heat was soaring. However, as always, when the days seem at their darkest, Baja shines! The Mexican government sent boat loads of help from the mainland with trucks from the electricity company to fix the huge problem, as well as 8,000 police and army personnel to help the situation. Most of all, the locals managed to portray a positive attitude and work together to get their businesses together and up and running again, although for many, this was a devastating blow. Already, things are getting back to normal, and the locals are working, whether fixing or selling, with a smile on their faces, looking at the positive side of things. The Bisbee is trusting that Cabo will be up and running, and has introduced a great new “Yacht Charter Class”, in order to help the local fishing community. For the first 20 boats that sign up, a secret benefactor will pay the US$5,000 approx entry fee, and the participant only pays a US$800 per day charter fee for a local charter boat between 30 and 40 feet, which will be determined by the luck of the draw upon registration. What a great recipe and a great opportunity to fish the Bisbee, whilst helping the cause. The Baja 1000 is also maintain is route from Ensenada to la Paz, on the dates as published from the 12th to 17th of November. So Southern Baja, thanks to the help from the Mexican government, many benefactors both local and State side and the huge Baja heart is bouncing back, and don’t be surprised if it will be stronger than ever!!!
