Hi Animation Critic is back with 1 review...... 1960s: Wacky Races........ Info: Hanna-Barberas first race cartoon with 10 different racers and vehicles...like number 10- Rufus Ruffcat and Sawtooth in the buzzwagaon, number 9- Peter Perfect in the Turbo Terrific, number 8- Lazy Luke and Blubber Bear in the Arkansas Chuggabug, number 7- The Ant Hill Mob in the Bulletproof Bomb, number 6- Sergeant Blast and Private Meekly in the Army Surplus Special, number 5- Penelope Pitstop in the Compact Pussycat, number 4- The Red Max in the Crimson Haybalder, number 3- Professor Pat Pending in the Convert-a-Car, number 2- The Gruesome Twosome in the Creepy Coupe and number 00- Dick Dastradly and Muttley in the Mean Machine.....they travell all over the USA to be the Worlds Wackiest Racer. Episodes: 17 Episodes (34 Segments) Original Run: September 14, 1968-September 5, 1970 on CBS Available on DVD/Blu-ray: Complete Series Review: 1. Story and Characters: Oh how funny that cartoon was. Each character and vehicle has a different personality. It shows how funny each one does in order to win a race. You though Dick is a bad guy wait till see the other drivers. They cheat as well and no matter how Dick tries he always lose. They make me laugh so much and the characters are not only likable but humorous as well; especially the narrator makes a grand way to enjoy the story. 2/2 for me. 2. Writing: Pretty much the writing is same every episode with a twist of a different city. Each episode makes fun of a city, keep the characters funny with puns and slapstick. Also, the characters are funny with great interactions and the story they wrote for these characters to do makes it fun especially Dick and Muttley do the most slapstick. How happy with these writers and dont have to get a lot to make a nice series. Great job here. 2/2 3. Acting: Ahhhhhh HBs voice crew including Janet Waldo, Daws Butler, John Stephenson, Don Messick and Paul Winchell. Oh man they help all the characters to be not only fun but great. Oh how I love to hear every word like Paul did with Dicks character. Its so funny. Also, love the sweet south acccent of Janet Waldo. I can discuss more like an essay on that but I need to make it short. Anyway, great job cast and want to hear them over and over. 2/2 4. Animation: HBs trademark.....the running same background gag. You know, it works well and saves money on animation. Anyway, every episode has a different background and each character rides thru the same background until they get to the finish line. Oh how I love HBs animation. Ed Love, the father of Tony Love, is one of the finest animators ever lived. He help the characters with nice movements and swift reactions. Pretty much this section get 2/2 points. 5. Overall: I pretty much love this series. Great characters, backgrounds, story and voice cast....make a classic cartoon and in my opinion one of the best in 1960s even though its short lived but no matter....it will always remembered a great HB Cartoon. 2/2 TOTAL: 10/10 POINTS Intro: https://youtube/watch?v=ESi7uGMNaMs NOTE: Due to I have to work early tomorrow I have to moved the 1970s review to tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience.
