Hi Everyone. Amy is doing fine, but in pain and uncomfortable. - TopicsExpress

Hi Everyone. Amy is doing fine, but in pain and uncomfortable. Everything is going according to plan. I do want to temper this with some information about PKD. Amy has Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Not everyone with PKD has other ogans affected, but Amy and many others do. This was a liver resection for her polycystic liver. While this will giver her great relief from pain, and will greatly improve her life in a very meaningful way, it did not cure her PKD. There is none. Its why we do Honey Fest A PKD Charity Event. We give the money raised to the PKD Foundation so they can fund research, treatment and education to find a cure. PKD is one of the most common, genetic life-threatening disease affecting 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million people worldwide. PKD affects more people than cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, Down syndrome, hemophilia and sickle cell anemia -COMBINED! However, it is widely unknown, and as a result, the least funded of all of those diseases. Some have it really in a bad way needing a transplant, dialysis or death in their 20s 30s and 40s. Amy, fortunately has relatively good kidney function at this point and likely will not need a transplant or dialysis for many years to come. I say this not for sympathy but for education. Help us fight this disease. We will fight for as long as we are able, by fundraising for the PKD Foundation, education, and political action. If you see a fundraiser for PKD get involved. Go to it... Especially if its Honey Fest- A PKD Charity Event, cause thats the most fun your gonna have!!!! If you made it this far, thanks!!!!
