Hi Everyone I just found this site last night. I lived 274 South Palmerston Street and went to Barnes Road infants and juniors starting in 1952. School friends I can remember are Peter Finch whose dad was the shoe cobbler in Eldon Street, Jim White, Andy Kelso, Alan Hewitt, Maurice Lindsay and Roy Coltman who were three friends I last saw in the Britannia pub in about 1974. Also Terry Mattimore whose dad owned the pork shop near the Tyne Dock Hotel. Robin Blake lived in the pub. Others were John Howe, Bob Gibson, Graham Ireland, Keith Mackie, Susan Todd, Pat Lowrie?, Susan Maughan, Pat Anderson?, Valerie Sanderson?, Robert Bell (Ding Dong Bell), Mary Scullion and Maureen Brown. I was Badger Bage. Then there was Ronnie Boad (Cheyenne Boadie). All these nicknames were given to us by Mr Leslie on our first day in his class. Ive seen a name Trevor Chandler on here and he lived near to us. I used to go to Dickie Crones barber shop for my short back and sides. I also remember Scraftons the butchers. He was a friendly, jolly man. There were always queues in the shops on a Saturday when I went to do my Grandmothers shopping. She was called Morrison and lived in Eldon Street right opposite the church. I will post more when I remember and I also have a class photo to add.
