Hi Everyone, I thought Id share this with you so none of my friends and family get stung by any of these bastards. Last night at half 8ish my home phone rang it was a long number which looked foreign, I answered and the guy (middle eastern european indian accent hard to tell which) came on and asked to speak to me said he was calling from some company and was working on behalf of microsoft and that apparently my computer was giving off a lot of error signals. He asked me to press windows key and R together which brings up a run box in the bottom left hand corner of the screen and to type in eventvwr, I thought this sounded a bit fishy or a bit strange as I typed it in, luckily I didnt as if I had of done the bloke would have had access to my computer and any card numbers passswords etc etc. Anyway I told him that I was going to phone the police which I did who told me to call action fraud who work closely with city of london police force. They told me all about what these people do and what information they could have obtained, I was told to register with the Telephone Preference Service which I have done as even if you are ex- directory these people can still back door and pick up your phone numbers to make these calls if you get one do exactly what I did dont type anything in and also immediately dial 1471 to see if a number was left write it down phone police who will give you action Frauds number and report it to them. Thank You.
