Hi Everyone, I wanted to send to you a request, on behalf of Evergreen Gene’s Inc. store and the owner, Gene Munnings As you know, Evergreen Gene’s is in a small strip mall. For the last few months, they have been hassled by another store in the complex that has put to the city a complaint, which has caused others stores including Evergreen Gene’s, grief. The other store, the Gun Shop, has reported their grievance as: “Evergreen Gene’s has taken up the parking lot, and their customers don’t like to walk to the store if they have to park in the actual parking lot.” This is the entire complaint. Obviously unfounded, obviously pathetic. They say because of lost parking spaces, they have lost business. I, and many others, would like to see, on paper, the percentage of lost business due to five parking spaces now having Evergreen’s plants (from his nursery) setting on top of them. Which, mind you, was approved by the complex owner to do so. This is a pathetic attempt, by a bunch of very old men to get rid of a business they don’t approve of. As mentioned, due to their complaint, other stores in the complex have had the grief of their wrath as well. Sadly, the complaint was processed on a store in the complex that is only used as storage! No valid complaint was recorded about Evergreen Gene’s Inc. store what so ever. This proves to me just how uneducated the people who crafted the complaint are. Why this complaint has even grown to the size it is now, is beyond me. It has escalated almost into a frenzy from the other shop owners. There is a hearing/meeting about if Evergreen Gene’s Inc will be allowed a new permit for his business, on Wednesday, Sept. 25th, at 5:00 in the Sierra Room at the Community Center. Gene is asking anyone who would like to come to the hearing as moral support to do so, please. Anyone who wants to testify for EG and the good the store is in/for our community and the goodness of Gene as a person, please know it would be nice to hear your words in regards to Gene and his store. Let me tell you a bit about Gene Munnings. Gene is a philanthropic and charitable man who is all for the community. He creates fundraisers, provides his area in the complex for fairs, gives coupons for his store items to those who come to Carson City for particular functions, gives food and clothing to the homeless, and much, much more. Gene is deeply affiliated with his local church and is always volunteering for certain events the church has and giving freely of whatever the church needs. Gene has also, in regards to the area his store is at, beautified the complex with his nursery and the night time welcoming lights along with tarring the entire parking lot all by himself – a very hard and time consuming chore which the gun shop has benefitted from! If there is any way you could come to the hearing, as moral support and with your presence being an encouraging factor to those who approve permits (to renew EG’s,) it would be most appreciated. Lets help out a local store stand strong against those whose only complaint is 5 missing parking spaces! Thank you, Sandie and Evergreen Gene’s Inc.
