Hi Everyone, It has been quite sometime since my last post as things have been crazy busy at our Northbridge store leading up to Christmas. However it has restricted my time for renovating our bowral property. Thankfully I have been able to spend some time at the property and im so pleased with the progress we have made. The kitchen is almost completed and is fully integrated with zinc bench tops. All that is required now are for the cabinets to be painted in Porters half strength grey thorne chalk paint. Ive decided to use two of my gorgeous 19th century French cloche that I have had made into lights which are always a favourite in the shop. As with most of the work I wanted where possible to use local tradies, and Im so pleased I did because they have all been fantastic to work with!! Today was a very exciting day because we had our gates fitted and Im so thrilled with the way they look. Once again I enquired locally about where I could get good quality wrought iron gates made and I was put on to Oscar who owns a business called Ironstein in Bowral, he is real craftsman with traditional blacksmith skills. We gave Oscar the drawings and the gates were hand made in his workshop and fitted with an electrical mechanism within a week and he even painted them for me. The paint we used was Mirubond bridge paint, steel grey (same as he harbour bridge), we also used the same paint on the wrought iron balustrades on the windows of the house I finally found some time to do what I love best which was to place some of the gorgeous pieces I purchased recently from France into the house. Most importantly I found a special place for my beautiful +100 year old Budda, he looks so at home already:) We are looking forward to spending some time at the property over the holidays to finish things off so hopefully Ill be able to show you pictures of the property finally completed in my next post. Wishing you all a Very Happy and safe Christmas and holidays! Cheers Gaynor...x
