Hi Everyone. We hope that you have had a wonderful Xmas and New Year. If you have wondered why Rhett has been a bit slow at responding to some of your emails, it is because Rhett and family have been taking a well earned rest, visiting England and France during the “Wet” ... Quite a bit different from Lorella. Anyway, to bring you a bit up to date, here are a few things that I can tell you so that you will be sure to have Lorella on your “Must Visit” list for this year. Trish and Malcolm, Lorella’s caretakers, have been doing an excellent job while the family are away and, subject to how wet the “Wet” is, Lorella Springs Wildernes Park should be re-open around April. ... So start getting ready for an exciting adventure. Please click below to view a recent YouTube clip: Lorella Springs Wilderness Park https://youtube/watch?v=_4rcQqp2nPM And if you missed out on last years Newsletter, you can view it here lorellasprings.au/Newsletter_may14.pdf Since last year we have even more and better 1,000 km of roads and tracks. Our campgrounds are much bigger with improved facilities, more space to camp and caravan on, plus lots of wonderful campsites all over Lorella’s ONE MILLION ACRES. Our Nudist camp has now moved to a more secluded and private area at one end of the campground, with its own private swimming hole, showers and toilets. I am sure that you Nudists will love it. We have a Helicopter on site for scenic Aerial Tours, Heli Fishing or just getting to remote and otherwise inaccessible spots. lorellasprings.au/Helicopter.pdf We’ve also added more water points across the campground, put up brand new safari tents, completed more air-conditioned cabins, increased number of private accommodation units, more toilet blocks and a new and improved workshop. There is now a launching ramp and campsites, right at the mouth of the Wurrillywuncha creek, giving you never before deep water, direct access, right into the Gulf of Carpentaria, and previously untouched fishing and crabbing. Lorella is changing all the time, and although we are still probably the most remote, untouched and unspoilt part of Australia, more and more people are coming to visit. So don’t leave it too long. If it has been a few years since you last came, please come and enjoy this special piece of Australia as there is now so much more to see and do. So much more has been opened up. If you have never been before, you must come soon ... We know that you will love it. A little bit of civilisation amid the wilderness, you can “rough it” in comfort if that’s what you want or get way from Lorella’s facilities and experience pure untouched Australian wilderness. Lorella homestead and campground is huddled at the base of the Tawallah Range and has the beautiful natural, crystal clear, hot thermal spring, bubbling and pushing its way out from deep underground, cascading thousands of litres of water from this pretty Pandanus lined rock hole in the gap of the ranges. Flowing straight past our picturesque campground, this spring is the head waters of the pristine and unspoiled Rosie River , which winds and turns about one hundred kilometres through rugged and spectacular terrain to eventually flow through to the coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria . Words to tell you more about Lorella ? ... Camping, Caravanning, Fishing, Crabbing, Magic Thermal Springs, Wildlife, Hundreds of bird species, Photographers Dream, Rock Formations, Fossicking, Fossils, Bush Walking, Bike Riding, 4x4 Driving, History. Some of the best unexplored creeks, rivers, billabongs, swamps, coastline, and untouched bushland in Australia, all just bubbling, teaming, bursting with wildlife. We kids of ALL ages just love Lorella. And not forgetting the more relaxed, senior members of the community. “Grey Nomads” are very welcome and well catered for. Don’t forget we have a liquor licence and can provide meals and fuel. No, we are not 5 star, nor are our prices, but to those of you who like this kind of Life ... We are 1 million star. Hope to see you soon. Rhett’s Dad, Pete. P.S. Remember to leave lots of time to spend at Lorella. You could spend the whole season here and still only see part of it ... we are 1 MILLION ACRES ... Almost everyone who comes, wishes that they could stay longer. And if you can think of anyone who would enjoy this newsletter, please forward it on.
