Hi Folks, Here is the information I have received from Mr. Valenti of Wilcox/Regan Funeral Home: Ticonderoga. Richard Charles Varmette, Jr., 70, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at his residence. Born July 17, 1943, in Weymouth, MA, he was the son of the late Richard and Ruth (Gerstley) Varmette, Sr. Mr. Varmette was a resident of Ticonderoga and Port Henry for most of his life and was a 1963 graduate of Ticonderoga High School. He was employed by International Paper Company of Ticonderoga for over 30 years and was a member of the Companys Quarter Century Club. Mr. Varmette was a member of the Ticonderoga, Port Henry and International Paper Company Fire Departments, a member of the National Geographic Society, and a life member of the U.S. Naval Institute. He loved to travel and was an avid reader. Survivors include his son, Kevin M. Varmette and his wife, Tonnya of Ticonderoga; one brother, Brian Varmette of Ticonderoga; and two sisters, Susan Jakowenko and her husband Carl of Scarborough, Maine and Judy Eubar of Temple Hills, Maryland. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A Prayer Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Funeral Home. The Rev. David Hirtle, Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Crown Point, will officiate. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga.
