Lesson #2 from Syfy: When the giant Dino-croco-squid-wolf is about to eat the teenage boy, his mother is suddenly able to find a kitchen knife and wield it with ninja-style accuracy and find the one quarter-inch weak point through its alien-enhanced armor to kill it and save everyone--and still have the common sense to look for the nest before the eggs hatch even though the army general (who wanted to nuke the town all along) is absolutely certain that the whole idea of it even being pregnant is ludicrous.
