To whom it may concern, RE: HUMBLE REQUEST TO ASSIST MY DAUGHTER YASMITHA WITH FAMILY PHOTO My name is Mohanathas and I live with my wife and daughter in Akkaraipattu of Amparai District, My family and I lived a simple, yet happy life until we were delivered with the heartbreaking news that our daughter Yasmitha was suffering from a hearing deficiency starting from the age of five months. After countless government hospital visits in Batticalloa, Kandy and Colombo in our desperate search to find an adequate treatment, we informed that our daughter required a cochlear implant to be surgically implanted in order for her to have a chance of regaining her hearing. The treatment, which costs Rs 3000000.00, is only said to be beneficial only if it is implanted before a child reaches the age of 1 ½ years old and consequently time is of the utmost essence in our minds as our daughter is to reach this age in the imminent future. The discovery of this treatment gave us a new found sense of hope and consequently we have attempted to explore the possibility of undertaking this operation. We would really do whatever it takes to get our daughter the best possible treatment within our means. At this stage, I have been advised by a friend of mine that there were opportunities in Tamil Nadu to undertake this treatment at substantially lower cost. This same friend also introduced me to OfERR, an organization working for the rehabilitation of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees. This organization had assisted my family to travel to Tamil Nadu and it is through their persistence and kindness that we were able to secure appointments at specialist hospitals such as K.K.R Hospital, Madras E.N.T Research Foundation and Government Hospital in Chennai. As this was a unique treatment, they had informed us that they had estimated INR. 11, 85,000.00/- for this treatment.
