Hi Friends of McCormick Park, Another great project is coming to the McCormick Park community! This one is the result of an idea brought forward by FOMP members at one of our meetings in 2012. The City of Toronto and Toronto Hydro have received the green light from the Ontario Power Authoritys Feed In Tariff (FIT) program to install a 175kw solar photovoltaic system on McCormick Arena and Community Centre rooves. The system will provide 227,360 KW hours of annual production, reduce GHG output by 25 tonnes/yr and provide tens of thousands of dollars in annual revenue to the City of Toronto. Installation is going to take place in late 2014 or early 2015. In addition to playground improvements (finished by end of August) and the shipping container cafe (scheduled to open September 27th), this project is another example of the positive results we can achieve by working together.
