Hi Guys.... I thought this posted earlier but apparently not..or I cant find it. The photos of D&RGW C-16 number 278 were just taken yesterday in Cimarron, CO. The train belongs to the City of Montrose and is on loan to the Parks Department. It has been on display in Crystal Creek Canyon, normally on the old steel bridge there. It was removed a couple of years ago and the engine and tender taken to Palisades for evaluation and cosmetic restoration. If you have seen this loco in the past, you will notice a lot of new parts and steel has been added/replaced. According to the evaluation, the boiler and engine are in remarkable shape considering the many years it has been outside unprotected. The train will not be re-installed on the bridge until a survey and repairs are completed, perhaps some time next year. I was fortunate to have access to the impound yard yesterday to take these photos. Hope you all enjoy them.
