Hi, I have lurked around this group for a while! Some groups are not the greatest to ask questions in, but I feel like I can here, without starting a cat-fight!! My girl is Pippa. We think she is just turning 3 or so. She was found when she was about 1 yr old, literally hanging with a chain wrapped around her neck, up on a fence, malnourished, etc. She was sent to the kill shelter (oxymoron?). A friend of mine saw her and called me to see if I would take her. She is not the aggressive type, so I didnt have to worry about that. She has joined me, my husband, 2 other rescue dogs (blk lab and husky/shep mix) as well as two cats. She does beautifully. Took quite some time to potty train her, though. So...Pippa has been with us about 2 yrs...however, she is totally fearful of my husband, but getting less fearful. Pippa will now sniff his feet and hands, and nuzzle his head if he is in bed sleeping. Of course he wakes when she does this, but just lets her do her thing. All my research of course leads to the same conclusions of anxiety, etc. She has come a long way in 2 yrs, but has been a hard nut to crack. She has the playful personality and will play hide and seek with hubby if we are outside for a walk. Any other ideas to help her anxiety with husband? She was not socialized obviously. However, we live out in the woods and do not have neighbors or many visitors. She is very attached to the black lab, she mimics him a lot and they are smitten with each other, lol. I have tried most natural remedies/formulas/herbs, etc. to no avail. I do not know if a dog behaviorist can help, but there are none around here anyway! Anyone with ideas, solutions, tips or tricks, etc. Time has helped. Pippa really, really wants to chum around with hubby and starts, but of course something in her brain stops her. Just need a little breakthrough! Thank you all in advance, I love this group...I love the no bickering, lol.
