Hi, I just want to express my delight with HelpX. Ive been a member for about a year. We have had a few single helpers and one family so far. It has been such a great experience. All of the helpers have been fantastic, and we were VERY sorry to see them leave. All except a man from London, England will be returning this year. One man who came for a month is planning to stay much longer. I have to tell you that theres not a lot to do where I live. There isnt even public transportation. I dont have a fancy house; in fact its not so great, but what we have here is peace and quiet. We live a very simple life. We dont demand a lot from our helpers, but they give us so much more than what is expected of them. For the months of April and May, we have a woman from China, a man from The Netherlands and a couple from Canada that will all be here at the same time. I told the couple from Canada that all the sleeping accommodations were already taken, and if they were willing to sleep on a cot and a couch, they were welcome to come. I was surprised that they are anxious to come. Go figure! I got a request this morning from another couple. I explained that we REALLY dont have any place for them to sleep. I did tell them if they have a tent and sleeping bags, they would be welcome. Im waiting for an answer. :) I have been reading comments here, and I dont understand why hosts have issues with helpers. Perhaps I dont follow the guidelines, or the spirit of HelpX. Anyway, I am a very happy member and an extremely grateful host.
