Hi, Im 46, and relatively new to sciatica, however I have a history of back pain going back to when I was 15. After 8 years of going back and forth to my GP and being fobbed off with pain killlers, I finally was referred for an MRI, which showed 2 prolapsed discs in my lower back, 1 in my neck and spurs. Funnily enough my back doesnt bother me that much now, just a general ache with occasional twinges. I developed a burning sensation in my calf which suddenly got worse. My GP said its sciatica caused by my back problems, I burst into tears, I was hoping for something like a varicose vein or even a DVT, something that you could do something about. The pain has since spread, from my buttock down to my ankle, which feels sprained and pins and needles in waves down my leg. I feel like Ive been sentenced to a life time of pain. Does anyone else feel the same? I feel like Id rather have some hideous but curable disease.
