Hi! Im Lesley, a 44 year old mover in NYC. I am loving reading everyones stories and new to this group. I have been moving since being in my mothers womb. Apparently, I was dancing and kicking so hard I cracked her rib...or so the story goes. As a child I dabbled in tumbling, trampoline, sprinting, soccer, and cheerleading. But my main movement has always been dance, and I was fortunate enough to attend a performing arts program from 4th through 12th grade. I was accepted into my first dance company at the age of 12, and went on to college to receive a BFA in dance. I had a wonderful career performing and touring contemporary dance for almost 20 years. While dancing, I was introduced to capoeira and yoga. I have been a student and teacher of Pilates for 17 years, and bodyworker (deep tissue, shiatsu, thai massage, and Reiki) for 18 years. During a bout of depression, I retired from dance at the age of 39 and took some time off to make life changes and get my shit together. Then at 40 I found Acroyoga and it brought so much joy to life. I fell in love with therapeutic flying and eventually was obsessed with acrobatic flying. Last year I became a certified teacher and now spread the love with as many people as possible. I now train standing partner Acro just for fun. This year another major shift happened. I met a friend and teacher who introduced me to bodyweight training and animal flow. I viewed many of Ido Portals videos and was inspired to MOVE again. Ive been back to the dance studio taking classes and even signed up for a trampoline class tomorrow! I joined the hang challenge last month and now am squatting. And Im super stoked for Movement X next week in NYC. I try to live a life full of curiosity and play. Last week I attempted a one arm hand to hand with 2 different bases and found success! Anything is possible at any age! I would like to hear stories from Leanne Weiner, Samantha Star Cuomo, Melinda Risadinha, and Nerijus Bagdonas
