Hi! Once again experimenting. This time I tried to adapt Chopins 20th Prelude (Op.28) to be played by a traditional wind quintet. As in past post, I only see this kind of work as an exercise, so any insight/critique is helpful. I had do raise the pitch to fit all the instruments in (from C minor to E minor) and doubled the rhythm along with a tempo acceleration (is this legal in orchestration context? Or its more an arrangement?) Articulation has also been altered since I felt wind instruments should behave this way in order to emulate the original piano playing. Meanwhile I found a problem at m.14, where the E minor chord sounds somehow off - I dont know if it is a harmonics problem (from the instruments themselves) or a digital glitch (until I reached the DAW I didnt noticed any problem...) - other rendering problems (like clicks) may be heard - I blame Windows 8.1 for them.https://soundcloud/gfilipeb/chopins-20th-prelude-for-wind-quintet So... as a trying-to-be-self-taught-orchestrator (and composer, btw...) I once again ask for you valuable insights. Thank you!
