Hi Zane, I wish to remain anonymous and would like your opinion - TopicsExpress

Hi Zane, I wish to remain anonymous and would like your opinion on the following: when a man chooses not to be in their childs life or acknowledge their child, do you think the mother should extend an olive branch to his family anyway and make them aware? Ive made it clear to the male that I would not try to force him to be in his childs life and if he comes to his senses, I will also not try to keep him away...it will be on his conscious to do the right thing. My thing is as a mother, I feel I owe it to my child to let their other family know that they exist because the fathers family may want to be in the childs life despite the dads actions. Should I leave the decision in the fathers hands to tell his family or should I ignore his wishes and make them aware myself? If they dont want to be involved, so be it...my child will be loved regardless. Im just wondering if I should extend the offer so down the line my child will know I tried. I dont want our child to miss out on having other family in their life if indeed they would want to be included. I just want to be sure Im speaking up on behalf of my child who doesnt have a voice in the matter. What do you think Zane? Tell them (his parents) or leave it in the fathers hands? (Btw, when we were involved, we were both single to my knowledge...no extra info Im leaving out...both over 30...he just flat out said he was being selfish and didnt want another child...his 2nd, too late for that at the time as I was already pregnant) MY RESPONSE: As a mother, I would want someone to tell me if I had a grandchild. Despite what one of my sons would do (I am confident they would do the right thing in the first place), I would still love, support, and babysit my grandchild, include him or her in all family activities, the whole nine. You should tell them and if they think differently than me, that is on them. I would want to know, even during the pregnancy, so I could be there from the day my grandchild enters this world. Good luck.
