Hi Zane want to say thank you! Thank you for your love, realness, wisdom,n caring heart. I am a 26 year old woman with no children of my own, god hasnt seen fit I guess to bless me with any I take it as I have my whole life to live n just recently graduated from cosmetology school n want to own my own salon, so I havent fret about it til recently Ive been depressed n everything dealing with babies I try and stay away from. Well recently my friend told me about a young lady whos a little younger than me who has a baby who doesnt. Have god parents, I was reluctant at first but then I started keeping the baby maybe 2 or three days to one week to 3weeks at a time with no communication from the mom. I figure she wasnt stable or had a lot on her plate so I didnt want to judge off top. Shell come in get her a couple of days then she back with me. Cool, then I started noticing the pattern that she would come in get her n figure she was just going out on weekends. She gets benefits from the state for the child but she never has anything the baby needs, so I get it for her no promblem. My question is do I continue Going through the back n fourth with her only bringing me the baby after her funds run out which is the 3rd or 4th of each month? Or do I purpose to her to get custody of the baby? She has 7 other kids thats not in her care. Shes living house to house, n baby never smiling or happy when shes with me and my family. Am I fighting this to hard because I dont have any kids of my own? I really just want to make sure baby is taking care of and happy. What should I do? MY RESPONSE: So she is younger than you and has eight kids in total and the only one not in her care is the one you help care for? Wow, that is incredibly sad. Yes, you need to talk to her about getting legal custody of the child. She is obviously an unfit parent but I am not going to be too harsh on her. I do not know her plight but I can see the results of it. I commend you for your compassion for that child. One of my friends just took custody of a 5-year-old child from Texas so that she would not become a ward of the state. Do what you can for the child and God bless you.
