Hi all, I have been reading this page with interest. We live - TopicsExpress

Hi all, I have been reading this page with interest. We live in Woolston and were living overseas when we received an email with the CCC/SCIRT info pack saying our area was having pressurised pumps installed and we had to consent by a certain date or we would be responsible for our own sewage needs, as we live in a back section we didnt feel we had any choice but to consent, so we did. I confess to not reading the info properly and didnt realise it involved a holding tank so when we came back home it was not until we had the onsite location meeting that we realised what was involved and the actual footprint size of the unit. We have quite a few concerns about the consent process, why we need this system (our toilets work fine), why other areas (ie. CBD) are getting pipe sleeves inside their sewage pipes instead of this system, the performance of the units, our liability for possible costs involved and the supposed lack of budget to return the area around the footprint to its existing standard. And after reading posts on this page I am even more concerned! We have found the CCC staff member who attended the onsite meeting very unhelp when we raised concerns, with a shrug of the shoulders and answers like Well Karen there are winners and losers with this and if you are somewhere in the middle then youre not doing too badly!!! We are thinking of withdrawing our consent but the CCC staff member said they will be blocking up the existing pipes with concrete once the units are installed, so where would that leave us? Is this true or just scaremongering to keep us in the consent process? Can anyone please suggest someone who they have found helpful with dealing with this process and/or someone who already has one of these units installed. Cheers Karen :-)
