Hi all. In the months leading up to our wedding, my wife Sadé kept having this recurring dream. In it, a blind person was leading a person in a wheelchair. It was set in a hospital. The couple was androgynous. People scurried around them in a panic. Sadé was lost... But I felt as if i recognised the couple immediately. It was the two of us: the broken man, being led around by the blind woman...and vice versa, depending on which horses mouth itd spilt from on that occasion. Id heard the comments friends had made about us: I dont know what you see in him/her... You must be blind; (s)he is broken and worthless...all-the-while smiling in our presence. I felt as if i recognised the couple, because Id accepted, loved, and made peace with them... Sadé and I both had. Our fractured souls had each found the other in the infinite darkness of past hurt. We neither denied nor debated our fragments. We were blind... But our pieces found each other anyway... AND FIT! So today Im here to say: accept your flaws. Accept your shortcomings. Accept those of others. The blatherings of the lonely and bitter? Let them roll off you like water off a ducks back. Allow yourself to be happy. Yours in love, - a blind and broken man
