Hi all, My little girl is 18 months, and has had eczema on her - TopicsExpress

Hi all, My little girl is 18 months, and has had eczema on her legs and arms since she was about a year old. The only cream that seems to help is hydrocortisone, which I use every couple of weeks to calm things down again. Ive had her (and me, as she is still breastfeeding) on a semi-FS diet (low sals, and additive-free) for nearly 3 weeks, but have seen no improvement. Shes not a good eater anyway (only recently started to eat chunks of things without choking / vomiting) so her diet was already very limited, more like a 6-month old really. She basically lives on soup, fruit puree, yoghurt, cheese and a milky baby cereal. Thats partly why Im doing the diet now rather than waiting until shes older - I thought it would be easier while she eats so few things anyway! But the other side of the coin is that now Im thinking maybe the culprit is dairy food, as she eats so much of it. The trouble is - if I remove those things from her diet, theres almost nothing to replace it with, especially if shes also very limited on fruit (sals)! So can anyone tell me, are eczema sufferers more likely to be affected by sals or by dairy? Maybe we could give up on the low sals and go dairy-free instead. At least she isnt drinking cows milk yet, so it makes it a bit simpler. Im scared to undertake the full elimination diet as it will be so hard, and she may starve!! Also I live in Portugal, and we have a lot of different products / types of fruit, etc from Australia, so the failsafe shopping lists mostly dont work for me. Plus Im basically on my own with this, as I havent found a supportive doctor yet. Help!
