Hi all, owing to the poor numbers attending lectures (thank you to all who make the effort), and the pressures of end of semester, I am not going to hold a face to face lecture tomorrow or next week. Instead, please watch the following lecture: youtube/watch?v=M7J5LjUU76c Questions on this lecture will be a part of practice questions released on Monday for your final quiz. That quiz will be on lectures and readings from week 7 onwards and will open at 12pm Friday 24 October and close at 9pm. You will note that there has not been a lot of readings or online learning activities. As I have explained previously, I try to slow things down at this end of the semester so that you have more time to work on your assessment. Your second assessment is also due Friday 24 October by 9pm. I am expecting you to complete the following: Part 1 - discuss 1 criminological theory that relates to your case study. This study is of your choice. A number of you are emailing me asking me which theory to use when it is evident you have not put any research or significant thought into this. I am not going to tell you what theory to use. I am happy to discuss your chosen options with you. (1200 words MAX) Part 2 - provide a sentencing, or parole, or program, recommendation justified by research. Your recommendations should be realistic and based on the information you provided in your case study. (800 -1200 words MAX) Part 3 - provide a brief reflection on your learning (500 words MAX) It is evident that many of you did not consider that the two assessments in this subject were linked. I did say this early on and those of you who will do best took not of this and let assessment 1 set assessment 2 up for you. There is still time to talk to me though and I am HAPPY to hear from you - assuming you come with ideas of your own.
