Hi everyone, I just wanted to post that I will no longer be in the neighborhood because our home of 9 years, on Hemphill Rd., burned in a fire Monday morning. I pulled in the drive to find my husband running out of the house frantic, from trying to put out the fire. The fire is believed to have started from the electrical cord of a brand new mini heater, that I had recently purchased from Wal-Mart. It was not on, just plugged into an outlet, in the wall where the fire started. This is what the fire dept. believes to be the cause.. By the time the fire was put out, pretty much everything was destroyed. My husband suffered smoke inhalation and two out of three of my daughters pet rats were in a cage and died from smoke inhalation.(that I tried so hard to get to but the smoke was so thick) We threw a brick through the window where my other daughters pet rabbit was, in a large cage. He survived. The family is fine and the family dog was with me in the car so we are very fortunate!! We are still going over to retrieve personal belongings and I am going to let my daughter finish out her 6th grade year at Freeman Elementary.. So we will still be in the neighborhood everyday.. I will really miss living there and having such caring and friendly people as neighbors..thanks !!
