Hi everyone! I´m Valentina, italian, and it´s 2 weeks I´ve moved to Lahti. I live with my boyfriend but I´m having problems getting residence and social security number. The day after my arrival, we went to Maistraatti where they refused me cause I´d be here doing the pretty life, they sent me to police and there they said that I must work for 3 months and after that they can give me a permanent residence permit. Of course at the moment I don´t have social security number so I can´t even say that I live with my boyfriend (is it true that I need social security number? Lahden Talo said so. Are there other options to arrange it?)etc. So, yesterday I went to Helsinki to ask if I can change from Italian university to Helsinkin Yliopisto and study there, but they said that EVEN to study languages I must be fluent in finnish. Now, what should I do? Do you have any tips to find a job or a trainee? I´d like to work in pubs and bars. I can´t do anything without social security number and I can´t live forever as a tourist. If someone has job offers (even in Helsinki or wherever) please feel free to contact me. I need to practice the language and be socially helpful. Thank you for your help!
