Hi everyone, Mission Beach Cassowaries wants to thank all its members for making this site an exciting hub for cassowary information. Your posts help to make positive identification of individual birds and has given us a much better insight into the lives of the cassowaries at Mission Beach. We are understanding more about how they move around the landscape and interact with other birds during the different seasons while maintaining their range, mating, how many chicks survive and what direction they are dispersing to. It also provides valuable knowledge of the habitat corridors they are using and of the obstacles and threats they face as they access their essential habitat. Information supplied by you is copyright and credited and only used in documents or presentations to help the long term survival of cassowaries at Mission Beach. Some of the stories compiled from the records we have been keeping over the last 7 years can be seen on the Mission Beach Cassowaries website. missionbeachcassowaries Local conservation organisation, C4, also collects information from this site for their sightings database so when you post your sightings and photos could you please include the time you saw the birds and the location (as close as possible if it is a road sighting). We respect your privacy so we dont need your house number if the sighting is in your yard, an approximate location such as the street, half way or northern end etc will do.
