[PTIs Press Statement on the Dharna and Supreme Court Inquiry] Central Information Secretary PTI, Dr Shireen Mazari today made clear that PTI Chairman Imran Khans demand that a SC Inquiry Committee, independent of the government, probe into the electoral rigging in the May 2013 Elections in no way implied the dharna would end. Mazari said Khan had made clear, repeatedly, that in the event that such an inquiry is initiated by the SC, the dharna would continue till the probe was completed. Khan had also made clear that a government-formed Commission to look into electoral rigging was not a viable option, unless the main beneficiary of rigging, PM Nawaz Sharif resigned. Mazari reminded that the PTI position was clear: as long as Nawaz Sharif remained PM for the duration of an inquiry into rigging, the probe would not be able to move independently. Mazari reiterated that Chairman Khans position on a meaningful, result-oriented inquiry into rigging of the May 2013 elections was the following: One: the SC must constitute an independent Inquisitorial Committee to probe into electoral rigging of the 2013 General Elections. Two: This Committee must be time bound in terms of completing its inquiry. Three: The Azadi dharna will continue during the duration of the inquiry. There should be no ambivalence on that count in anyones mind.
