Hi everyone! Please take 6 minutes of your day to watch a video that I have created for my Girl Scout Gold Award Project. I am challenging internet users to go through seven days without accessing any of their social media accounts. An increasing amount of people have been plagued by the epidemic that causes peoples eyes and thumbs to be glued to social media sites on their phones. Social media prohibits many people from making actual interactions with others because it has become easier to check on others posts rather than personally and actively communicating with them. Although social media allows people to connect with one another, it undoubtedly decreases the level of social interaction that occurs daily. As technology advances, peoples lives become engulfed by it as well. There is a greater dependence in peoples lives to connect to their friends on social media. This causes a lack of social interaction due to the immediate availability of viewing a persons status within a click of a mouse or a tap on a screen. There is more to life than staring at an electronic screen and scrolling through news feeds. Social media should simply serve to enhance life, not define it.
