Hi everyone, Thank you for adding me :) I am not an pilot, but I have some questions that Im having trouble getting answers to here in Australia. A NZ company have been planning a wind farm for the suburbs surrounding my property. On January 17th this year there was a huge grass/bushfire that burnt over 25,000 hectares. Aerial fire fighters played a huge roll in controlling the fire & saving homes. I am worried about how we will be effected if the wind farm goes ahead & 114 turbines, each 165m high, are scattered (not in a line as many other wind farms around Australia are) across the landscape & prevent or at very least hinder the amazing water bombing pilots from saving our homes or lives. I live on a narrow no through rd & thats our only way out. We currently have NO obstructions, the project will add 114 obstructions to our surrounding hills as well as all the other infrastructure such as transmission towers & overhead wires etc. which I believe will also be a hinderance to pilots. Im just wanting to get opinions straight from pilots, How high must one fly to clear these things, how wide a distance around to clear them, is it even safe to fly near them or will our little communities be collateral damage should another fire come through after the turbines go up? I need to know if we are at greater risk as it will influence our decision to stay or sell should the turbines go ahead. I am really hoping to get some honest personal opinions from actual pilots who have no financial gain from the proposal. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this.
