Hi everyone, again :) Ive just been catching up on the emails that weve been sent and I found this one from late June that may interest few of you: To the editors at Young Scientists Journal- The PLOS Blogs network is currently searching for students to contribute to The Student Blog. Hosted by PLOS, a non-profit, open access science publisher, the blog needs smart, articulate, and interesting students to submit guest posts and to write on a monthly basis. We’re looking for students interested in blogging about their experiences as a student in a scientific discipline. We hope you, as either an organization or as individuals, might know some students who fit that bill! I’m Katie, a PLOS marketing intern, and I’m the one who will coordinate submissions for the fall. Our goal is to have a steady, self-sufficient team going into 2014. If anyone wishes to submit a guest post, we are accepting those as well, but our publishing preference goes to students interested in being steady contributors. Regular bloggers will be responsible for one blog post a month, as well as the editing of a colleague’s post. Perks of being a blogger: · Publish on a highly trafficked site · Develop your communication and social media skills · Practice giving and receiving feedback on your work Responsibilities of being a blogger: · Crafting original, substantive content once a month · Abiding by deadlines · Supporting and being held accountable by your colleagues Bloggers who fulfill the responsibilities will be eligible for a spot on the regular team. I attached a fact sheet with more details, including information about the application process and the plan for 2014. Feel free to respond with any further questions. Anyone interested should please submit an application on the following Google form: https://docs.google/a/plos.org/forms/d/19joGg7zciwt4AZAo2FSFHPI4p89SJEg8Y9_FMzLnCcI/viewform PLOS (Public Library of Science) is a nonprofit publisher and advocacy organization with a mission of leading a transformation in scientific and medical research communication. Every article we publish is open-access – freely available online for anyone to use – which benefits everyone, from researchers, educators, and patient advocates to funders, policymakers, and the public. The PLOS Blogs Network hosts posts written by scientists and science journalists who address matters of scientific and medical importance from diverse perspectives. Thank you!
