Hi everyone, we are planning a Western Day in May with Bridgette Woods and her daughter coming from Peterborough. They have both competed at club, state and National level and have experience in Western Trail, Western Pleasure, barrel racing, the rodeo circuit, breeding quarter horses and some showjumping. Bridgette is keen to teach the basics of halter, showmanship and then onto trail and pleasure, they will bring a horse to do demonstrations. We are also planning fun activities for the kids such as barrel racing and other games. Western Trail is a competitive class where horses and riders in western-style attire and horse tack navigate a series of obstacles. Participants ride the course one at a time, originally the course was designed to resemble situations a horse and rider might actually encounter when on a trail in a natural habitat, modern trail classes now tend to focus more heavily on agility and manners. Western Pleasure is a western style competition at horse shows that evaluates horses on manners and suitability of the horse for a relaxed but collected gait cadence and relatively slow speed of gait, along with calm and responsive disposition. Please reply if you are interested in joining in, we are looking at possibly a one or two day session with a camp over. We need to know numbers to organise the day so RSVP as soon as possible.
