Hi facebook friends, For the people who have been wondering what The Communication Tree is. Its an organization that I had started about 12 years ago. I had donated much of my time to an organization as a secretary for a while, as well as collected items to send to Canada for them. I had quit helping that organization. People were constantly calling me asking me to take their donation items. I would let the people know to contact the people from that organization. They had no response and kept insisting that I take the items. I am physically disabled, some were mad at me for not taking the items. I found out that they had quit collecting things. Two of my sons suggested that I take the items, they would help load my vehicle and such. Many people were given my telephone number and things started to grow to the point that I had to give it a name and rent a storage locker. I enjoy doing this type of work, I never get paid for it and rarely get any money donated. I could see that many people wanted to give items to me. So I had been in contact with many Native organizations on reservations and such. I would search for items of need from big companies and other distributors. This was in line with Communication of needs. So this is how I came up with the name (The Communication Tree). My oldest son was supporting me with this, in ways of loading, unloading and paying for most of the expenses. He was my vice president! I also sold my hand made items to help with the expenses. I became too ill to keep things moving so we decided to take a break from it. He took a job with the union where he works. My youngest son helped me to finish up on the distributions. We had done this stuff for about 5 years. I have done some distributions since then but no where near as much as before. Last winter I was asked to start collecting again. My health was starting to improve, so I had contacted many of my old business resources to find that they would not give us anything. So families came together and started donating. I created a winter seasonal donation drive. People offered help, so I did so. I am basically starting all over again!. Am not sure where it will lead, but this is the second winter season of it. From being out of the swing of things for 5 years. Managed to get some items for the Menominee Nation, Lac du Flambeau and SD. It was not a whole lot compared, but a good start. Due to my health issues people have begged me to give up. I refused to and here we go again!
