Hi folks, well November is here... its always a sombre month... we begin with All Saints Day and that leads us to remembrance day... and Im reminded that British troops have just had the official pull out from Afghanistan. This week Karen and I have been watching the BBC drama The passing Bells, which tells the story of two young soldiers from the first word war from both the British and German perspectives... Its been a reminder again that no matter what side you are on that these young solders that fought back then in the Great War and in all subsequent wars and conflicts had hopes and dreams for the future... I came across this great clip from Charlie Brown (see below) where Linus recites the poem In Flanders Field Its a powerful piece... and ends with Linus saying these words to Charlie Brown... What have we learned Charlie Brown? Its a great question... So what have we learned? What do we do with war and conflict? Whats the Christian response? Is there one? How does it affect the way we live? So this week at sunday@thepub we will be discussing this. We are meeting at the Briar Dene at 8.00pm if you would like to join us and join the conversation then why not come along.
