Hi guys it is with deep regret that I do announce my withdrawal from the Jewel Magazine Zimbabwes competition. Firstly I would like to apologize to my fellow participants Tatenda Hwaire Nyasha Ashton Kada ,Yvonne Majata, Runga S Jack, Shingai Bianca Muchenje,Godfrey Tendai Mungeni, Zandile Nasho,Corey and Nomusa for failing to acknowledge the faulty process of this competition and self endulgement that blinded me as a journalist to apply my zeal in the quest to find and reveal the truth. I only undertook this when the results came out the way I did not expect them to come out, but I thank God for grounding me and reminding me of my important role to society as a journalist to only seek and reveal the truth. The sequence of events started out after Jewel Magazine posted the wrong results and were questioned by the public. The magazine then in-boxed me with an appalling message and to a certain extent tantamount to cyber bullying.Instead of apologizing for posting the incorrect results they told me that their records showed i was second and that positions did not matter as we would all appear on the cover.Im not sure if they forgot that in a public competition the public are expose to factual results.Jewel also said my attitude was unbecoming of the magazine fan, because i had asked them to revisit their records in a polite manner. The way the company conducted itself by deleting most of the comments from some of my fans was worse. To what extent is such behavior ethical? Why would they all of a sudden do this? On what grounds do they delete comments and block fans for stating the obvious?.It is clear to me that they were looking for a reaction from me and then justify pulling me out of the competition. They also sent an accusatory email about why journalists where inquiring about my issue from them. It doesnt make sense to me as the competition was public and obviously under scrutiny.. As a journalist I then decided to understand and investigate the authenticity of such a contest since most of the fans have asked valid questions regarding the authenticity of the results. According to the Facebook terms a proper Facebook.contest should have properly laid down rules and regulations including timelines i.e offer terms and eligibility requirements a proper acknowledgement that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with Facebook and should not infringe on anyones copyrights i.e proper release and permission to use photographs and materials. The Facebook legal terms specify that bullying, intimidation and harassing is prohibited. When information is sought from user e.g contestants a privacy policy should be posted e.g explaining what information you are collecting and how it would be used which personally I did not and still do not see on the @Jewel Magazine Zimbabwe. From all this already I am taking this stance. I have now taken it upon me to investigate unjust, unethical behavior by companies and individuals especially in Zimbabwe or affecting Zimbabweans on Social media.I will not be bullied or threatened by Jewel Magazine Zimbabwe for their inaccuracy.. Above all i would like to thank all of the people that supported me in this competition,it is sad that i will not accept being manipulated for the love of appearing on the cover of Jewel Magazine..xx
