Hi guys, just wanting to get some feedback on your experience with adopting pets in the UK. About 4 weeks ago Cats Protection Leeds branch I believe posted a photo of a kitten who they were struggling to rehome because he was shy. I immediately fell in love with Billy and got in touch with them to rehome him. I was told that because I live in Warwickshire unfortunately this is not possible; even when I asked if my local branch can do the home check they said no (bear in mind on their own website they said they were struggling to rehome Billy!). So then I got in touch with my local Cats Protection branch in Leamington Spa, having seen on their website a 5 year old boy called Oliver. The process was very long from the time they got in touch to my home visit last week when I still confirmed I was interested in Oliver. On Sunday I got message asking if I was still interested in Oliver to which I replied today confirming that we still were. I got a reply saying that somebody from Somerset wants to adopt him now and that only if their adoption falls through we can have him. They say they cannot reserve cats however it sounds like that is exactly what they are doing now, reserving him for someone else in Somerset when he could be living with us tomorrow even! If Oliver does go to Somerset I will find another kitty to rehome from Cats Protection, however I just feel like they are making it really difficult for genuine pet lovers to rescue a pet.
