Hi it’s Skylar, Dr. Della Bella’s daughter. I just spent 5 days in Philadelphia and it was a blast! I wish we could have stayed longer, but back to work I go. The family went there for the annual ASD meeting (Academy of Sports Dentistry) and my dad received a Fellowship award. It was such a proud moment for me and my family. We also had an exciting trip planned and here is some of the stuff we did. First we enjoyed the ASD auction, the auction is held annually and it’s a blast. People donate stuff and the money goes back to the ASD foundation. Another exciting thing we did was go out with friends of ours that are also in the Academy. We went to two really good restaurants, Barcley Prime and C19. Barcley Prime was one of the best experiences and fabulous steak dinners I’ve had in awhile. C19 was a wonderful Italian dinner and a place for friends and family to gather and spend time with one another. I recommend these places if you’re ever visiting Philadelphia. Me and my mom went to an array of sites in Philly. We went to the USA’S first zoo and it was astonishing and exciting. They had many different animals and events you could take part in, which most zoos do not offer. Second we went to the Aquarium and it was really neat. They had a large selection of life, including sharks, hippos, and rays. They had a lot of events which you could take part in with the wildlife, including touch tanks and swimming with the sharks. The third thing we did was go to the Eastern State Penitentiary; I came back having the stories to tell everyone and a big smile on my face. The penitentiary was my favorite part; I love all the history behind closed doors. One story I came back with was how Al Capone stayed there a few months, living in this luxurious cell with rugs, radio, and oil paintings. Another historical thing we did was go visit the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. It was so neat to be in the same room as our founding fathers, and feel a part of history. We visited The Mint, Betsey Ross’s house, and the grave sites of some of our founding fathers. This was all on a private tour, which I recommend highly. It was a blast to spend time with my family and friends in Philadelphia.
