Hi, just a quick reminder that our careers day is 3-7pm at UCL. It is also our AGM and were looking for candidates. This is also likely my last message as chair, I am standing down after two and a half years in leading this community from its inception of just half a dozen students in a pub, through to the 300 signees on Facebook, a recognised organisation in the GIS community, and events with over 70 participants. I hope you got as much satisfaction and information out of this as I have, and that the connections you have made will be of use in your career. This years executive have delivered an excellent programme of events, with cutting-edge research in a wide variety of GIS applications, from warfare to disaster management, forest and watershed resources to tracking elephants. For the seocnd year running we organised our work experience scheme with local councils, boosting members career prospects and establishing good links with the GIS teams in the region. We have also successfully lobbied the Association for Geographic Information on inclusion of part-time students in their new membership scheme, and as a finale, the careers event itself with a line up ot rival any other university careers event in London. Without an executive, all of this would not have happened, and withoutout an executive, this will not be able to continue. So, why not take advantage of this win-win situation, boost your own career prospects and experience, as well as see the community grow in activity and stature.
